Global Missions

Multiple times throughout the year, we send short-term mission teams throughout the world, ministering Christ’s love to the hungry and hurting. In recent years, we’ve had teams serve in Africa, Mexico, Russia, Canada, Romania and China.

Ministering in Ghana

Southern Hills Baptist church members have partnered with Pastor Odai and Marantha Power Ministries during several trips to Accra and the surrounding bush country over the past six years. Projects have included, building open-air churches in villages, providing for over a dozen fresh water wells for villages, hosting soccer and Bible schools for children, medical missions, hosting church services and helping individuals with micro financing and training to start their own businesses and make their own income.

Two new ministries, recently begun by SHBC members and their friends, had their beginnings as a result of SHBC’s initial involvement and support of the area in and around Accra, Ghana, West Africa. To learn more about these two ministries we invite you to visit their web sites.

Kairos 10 Jewelry

Mission Statement: To supply and provide Africa with mosquito nets by employing native women to make jewelry for resale in the U.S.

The Pearl House

Vision: The Pearl House will provide a safe home and loving family for "at risk" girls in Ghana by:

• Equipping them to fulfill God's purpose for their lives by teaching them the Truth and Hope found in Scripture
• Meeting physical and spiritual needs by providing vocational training, education, and spiritual growth
• Nurturing them spiritually by teaching them the Bible and connecting them to a local church, Lauren's Lighthouse, which is on the premises
• Helping them get started in their career by providing them seed money and capital as well as job placement help
• Sending them out to be ambassadors of hope and freedom in Christ to other girls in need throughout Ghana and the world

It is our dream that there will be a "string of pearl houses" all over the continent of Africa.

Ministering in Mexico

During the past eight years or so, SHBC has sent numerous mission teams to Rio Verde, Mexico.  Team members have hosted church services, children’s events and Bible schools, visited in prisons, and conducted sports camps, built churches and more.
