SHBC’s local Outreach involves reaching beyond the walls of the church building to fulfill the Great Commission by proclaiming and developing an awareness of the Jesus Christ, making disciples and meeting the needs of people, both spiritually and physically.
Monthly Food Ministry
We are excited to announce that we have changed suppliers, and now ordering from King Foods, located just south of Wichita, Kansas, much closer for deliveries.
In person orders (for cash and EBT purchases) can be placed at Southern Hills Baptist Church on the first three Sundays of each month at 11:45 am, right after our 10:30 am Worship Service. We invite you to join us for Worship too!
Food is delivered to SHBC for pick up on the LAST Saturday of each month.
Our Car Care Ministry seeks to help people in need who have no other place to turn. This ministry is coordinated by a team of faithful volunteers at Southern Hills Baptist Church and is to assist individuals and families by providing basic transportation with minor car repairs.
Services provided are minor car repairs by appointment only and are evaluated in advance. All automobile owners must fill out a “Car Care Application” form. A Car Care Ministry team member will contact the car owner for an interview, determine if the repair is something our team can accomplish, and then set an appointment.
The automobile owner is responsible for the cost of any parts needed and the labor is provided for free. All services are performed on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 8am – 12pm. For more information, please call 918-938-6444.
Helping Children Find Life through…
Adoption | Foster Care | Mentoring | Tutoring | Relationship
Realations Group is a place where 36 children ages 8 – 17 live. These children have likely experienced extreme trauma, such as sexual or physical abuse. Many of you have thought about adopting or foster care. SHBC also partners with Relations Group home to provide a “Mentoring Program,” and we are in search of families willing to mentor some of these children. This means contacting them at least once/month, recognizing their birthday, visiting them, possibly taking them places, making sure they have somewhere to go on holidays, praying for them, helping them with homework projects…just listening and loving them. This is a great way to “Help these Children FIND LIFE!!!” through meaningful relationship. Our current involvement also includes taking “Junior Achievement” into the Group Home on Wed pm, a Tuesday night girls’ Bible Study, and on the 3rd Saturday of each month when we take dinner/plan activities/have a devotion time. For more information contact Kim Owens via firstname.lastname@example.org.
DaySpring Women’s Shelter – Donate household item
We help support the only Christian based women’s shelter in the state of Oklahoma through volunteering and donations. Clean out your linen closet and kitchen cabinets and bring all the things you haven’t used in the last two years. We’re providing housewares to women who have left a battered environment and are setting up a new home in a furnished apartment. Bring items to the Community Center in the Main Lobby or the church office.
SHBC currently supports over a dozen mission areas financially and through volunteer service. It is through the full dedication and participation of the membership of SHBC that our church responds to the commands of Christ. We are enabled through our gifts and abilities to share in the work and witness of the church, and to all serve as missionaries.
